Semcer Center for Healthcare Innovation
Our Mission
To advance human health by developing engineering-driven technologies that detect early functional decline, enable prevention, and accelerate the translation of innovation into healthcare.
The Semcer Center for Healthcare Innovation advances engineering-driven healthcare innovation through:
Interdisciplinary research that integrates multiscale and multimodal engineering approaches with expertise in engineering, data science, medicine, and the life sciences.
Integrating sensing technologies, imaging, artificial intelligence, computational methods, and data-driven analysis to detect early physiological and functional changes.
Developing new ways to measure, monitor, and understand health that enable earlier diagnosis, more informed clinical decision-making, and timely intervention.
Our strategic focus includes:
Healthy aging: Advancing research in metabolic, cognitive, and mobility health to identify early physiological and functional changes that support healthier aging, greater independence, and improved quality of life.
Building a collaborative research community: Bringing together engineers, scientists, clinicians, and data scientists through interdisciplinary research, seed funding, education, and partnerships with healthcare systems and industry to develop innovative solutions that improve health and quality of life.
Our Vision
We envision a future where engineering transforms healthcare from treating disease to identifying health risks earlier, enabling more personalized care, timely intervention, and better outcomes. By bringing together multidisciplinary teams and translating engineering innovation into practice, Semcer CHI seeks to advance healthy aging and improve health, independence, and quality of life.
