Stevens Expands Pre-College Programs

High school students can gain college experience through new commuter and virtual research programs

Stevens Institute of Technology is offering even more ways for high school students to connect with campus this summer through its new commuter and virtual research programs. Both new programs, offered through Stevens School of Business, are launching this summer.

The new commuter programs, “Business & AI - App Development” and “LeadX: Tech-Empowered Leadership,” give students the chance to explore business and management fields while experiencing campus life. These courses include hands-on projects led by Stevens faculty, collaborative activities with peers and daily on-campus experiences.

For those who need more flexibility, the new virtual research programs invite students to dive into exciting topics from anywhere. These online experiences include interactive virtual sessions with Stevens faculty, project-based learning in a remote format and opportunities to connect with peers through fun and challenging academic experiences. Courses offered include "Finance and Investing," a one-week intensive virtual boot camp, and "Quantitative Finance," a four-week virtual summer research program.

These programs join the existing Stevens Pre-College Summer Residential Program — an immersive program where students live on campus — and Online Courses For College Credit program, giving students their choice of pre-college experience.

“Our four types of summer pre-college programs — 21 residential programs, two for-credit programs, two commuter programs and two virtual research programs — provide a wide range of options to meet diverse student needs and interests,” said Monica Yim, associate director of Pre-College Experience. “While many programs follow a ‘sit and listen’ model, Stevens embraces a ‘build and do’ approach. We’re not just teaching subjects; we’re giving high school students the opportunity to test-drive high-level innovation before they even graduate — with a pretty incredible view of the Manhattan skyline as their backdrop.”

Applications to all Stevens Pre-College Programs are now open.
